Community ESL
Live in the area? Come study with us!

We provide evening classes for residents of Pullman, Moscow and surrounding communities who would like to improve their English skills. This community-based English as a Second Language (ESL) program is non-academic, with instruction provided by experienced, world class faculty with Master's degrees or higher.

  • 12-week course
  • Open to the community
  • Flexible! Choose 1 or 2 evenings per week
  • ESL classes for individuals on a non-academic track
  • Reading & Composition, Listening & Speaking, Grammar, American Culture, and more!
  • Taught by an experienced ESL instructor

The course is open to adults who:

  • are 16 years or older
  • have a GED or high school diploma, and
  • have a non-F1 visa or who are full-time students at Washington State University or the University of Idaho.

Each class meets for three months of instruction. Students may enroll for either three hours or six hours per week of instruction.

Tution & Fees:

  • 3 hours/week of instruction for 3 months $150
  • 6 hours/week of instruction for 3 months $250

Listening/Speaking

This 8-week intensive academic preparation course is a valuable tool to everyone who wants to improve listening skills and speaking skills in English. Note: Levels will be determined by a placement test. Registration closes August 31.

Pronunciation

Have fun while working on your pronunciation for 8 weeks with highly qualified ESL professionals. Get help with those difficult American vowels, consonants, stress, rhythm, and intonation patterns.

Pronunciation Workshop

This intensive pronunciation workshop is limited to five students who have a serious desire or need to address their specific pronunciation difficulties. Each student receives an extensive evaluation at the beginning of the course. From this evaluation, the teacher develops individualized pronunciation goals and programs to concentrate on in class. Students are expected to practice outside of class with materials, including a book and CD or tapes, that each student purchases for this course.
