Language Support Program
Washington State University and the Intensive American Language Center

If your English ability is preventing you from being successful in your classes or research requirements at WSU, the Language Support Program may be a valuable option for you.

Please check with your academic advisor to learn more about this program

Requirements

  • Be admitted to WSU as a graduate or undergraduate student and continue to be enrolled in your academic program for at least 50% of the full-time credit requirement, i.e. at least 6 credits for undergraduates and 5 credits for graduate students.
  • Be enrolled at WSU and IALC for the combined equivalent of at least 12 credits for undergraduates and 10 credits for graduate students for the entire semester.

Procedures

  • Consult with your academic advisor to drop some academic courses but maintain a minimum of 6 credits for undergraduates and 5 credits for graduates. Complete the Language Support Program Form with the written recommendation from your WSU academic advisor. Part-time tuition payments at WSU or refunds may be applicable if the withdrawal process is completed according to the published time schedule. NOTE: Students may only add IALC classes through Tuesday of week 2 of each IALC session. Therefore, students should wait to officially drop their WSU courses until after they have confirmed their new schedule with the IALC advisor.
  • Complete the IALC APPLICATION including application fee, and pay part-time IALC tuition.
  • The IALC advisor will keep a copy of the Language Support Program form for your IALC file and send a copy of the form for your WSU file in the International Students and Scholars (ISS) Office in Bryan Hall.

You may e-mail the IALC or contact us using the information listed at the bottom of this page for additional details. Information can be sent to you by e-mail, mail or fax. You are also welcome to download our PDF brochure or application (you must have Acrobat Reader to do this), or you can request information using our on-line form.
